The Cleanse, Day 21

Last day!!! I weighed myself and I have lost 3-4 pounds, but I didn’t have more to lose than that. Since I started practicing Nia regularly and doing the Cleanse every few months (which really inspired me to clean up my diet bit by bit), I have reached a new stability in my weight. This means that I notice if I go up 3-4 pounds, and I naturally eat less or move more to bring it back down. I can FEEL it now, versus needing the scale.
Overall, revisiting my intention for this Cleanse, it has been a success for me. Despite it turning out to be a busy time and having more stress than I’d planned, and eating more Amy’s frozen dinners than I planned, I have accomplished my goal to feel more abundant, more energetic, and more loving to myself and others.
I don’t think it is sustainable to stay off gluten, although I know it affects me, so I am planning to try a low-gluten diet, switching to gluten-free where easy and possible. And, I had already gone caffeine-free after the last Cleanse, so that leaves sugar, animal products, and alcohol, none of which I am craving at the moment.
The Cleanse was less about willpower and more about planning. As long as I have yummy stuff on hand and am not sacrificing taste, I don’t need willpower. My only times of temptation and needing willpower were the few times that tasty food was right in front of me, and honestly I had bites of it then. I am NOT about deprivation or perfection.
Thanks to all of you who supported me in this endeavor – if I can return the favor I’d be happy to! Let me know if you’re curious about doing the Cleanse, afraid of doing the Cleanse, think it’s a bunch of hooey – whatever! Leave a comment here, or email me at scirihal@hotmail.com.
Now that the Cleanse is over, I’ll be blogging about other topics too, probably once a week if you want to subscribe.
